SAP appoints new COO in India

SAP Asia Pacific Japan has appointed Peter Gartenberg as chief operating officer (COO), SAP India. Gartenberg will report to Steve Watts, COO, SAP Asia Pacific Japan and interim president, SAP India.

“We will continue to drive the software business forward in India by offering innovative solutions which deliver real value to our customers. I am confident the compelling business case we offer every one of our customers will also help bolster India’s economic growth,” says Gartenberg.

SAP India is the third largest subsidiary of SAP where approx 30 per cent of its global employees undertake an R&D function. Having generated customer acquisition growth of 150 per cent over the past year, SAP India has more than 4,100 customers, at present.

“I look forward to working with a great team to build on the excellent reputation SAP India has established here,” said Peter Gartenberg. “We will continue to drive the software business forward in India by offering innovative solutions which deliver real value to our customers. I am confident the compelling business case we offer every one of our customers will also help bolster India’s economic growth.”

Prior to joining SAP India, Peter served as the Managing Director & CEO, Siemens Enterprise Communications Pvt. Ltd India and Executive Vice President, Global Sales, APAC Region, Siemens Enterprise Communications GmbH & Co. KG. Peter started his career in 1986 with IBM in San Francisco, California.
