Footwear and apparel brand Timberland has recently opened its first store in South India at Express Avenue Mall, Chennai.
Spread across 2,200 sqft, the Timberland store is specially designed to reflect the brand’s long standing commitment to sustainability through the use of recycled material and other eco-conscious building practices. The store will offer footwear, apparel and accessories for men, women and children.
“Timberland is an authentic, sustainable brand with a history of innovation and quality and we’re excited to help drive the expansion of Timberland into India. We look forward to showcasing our brand in Chennai and providing consumers the authentic outdoor gear they have come to expect from Timberland,” said Darshan Mehta, president and CEO of Reliance Brands Ltd, which has an exclusive licence-cum-distribution agreement with Timberland in India.
The brand opened its first store at Ambience Mall, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi in September 2010 and plans to quickly trek to all major cities across India, in the near future.
The journey of Timberland began in 1952 with the start of the Abington shoe company in New England, US. In 1973, the brand got its name from the first water-proof shoe they created – Timberland. What started off as a shoe back then went on to become a leading outdoor brand. The brand is now available in over 130 countries across the globe.
