Bata India appoints Uday Khanna as Chairman

Footwear retail chain Bata India today announced the appointment of Uday Khanna as the Chairman of the company.

The company said in a filing to the Bombay Exchange that Khanna was an Independent Director and has been “unanimously appointed as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the company June 28, 2011.”

The appointment of Khanna came following the retirement of P M Sinha who was holding the position.

The firm said the announcement was made after the conclusion of the 78th Annual General Meeting.

Besides, the company informed that Atul Singh,Independent Director was appointed as the Chairman of the audit committee in place of Khanna.
