Entertainment company PVR has opened a multiplex in Jalandhar, the first in the city, at Neopolis mall. Spread over 45,000 sq.ft., the 4-screen multiplex has a seating capacity of 1,100 and for the first time will have a pick-and-pay counter. Three categories of auditoriums namely Normal, Prime, and Gold will be available with tickets priced between Rs 100 and 350.
Speaking on the occasion, Ajay Bijli, Chairman and Managing Director, PVR, said: “We are extremely pleased to launch PVR Cinemas in Jalandhar. We have launched PVR in the city keeping in mind the growing needs of the discerning audience for a quality cinema viewing experience. We are happy to increase our footprints in Punjab as Jalandhar will be the third city after Chandigarh and Ludhiana. PVR launch in Jalandhar has been thoughtfully designed keeping in mind the flavour of the city which replicates the local pattern of Punjab. We have a target of operating 500 screens by the end of 2015 with many more screens set up in Punjab.”
The 2K projection screens with 3D enabled and JBL sound system along with 7.1. Dolby Digital Sound claim to deliver the ultimate movie experience.
According to the company officials, PVR now has 170 screens in 39 cinemas across 23 Indian cities. It offers low-cost multi-screen cinemas in tier II cities called “PVR Talkies” and “PVR Premiere” to cater to the urban consumers. The chain also operates a bowling business PVR bluO in partnership with Major Cineplex Group, a lifestyle entertainment provider in Thailand.
