The Malaysian government has given its approval to TESCO to purchase 8 strong Makro cash & carry network.According to the Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs Datuk Mohd Shafie Apdal this will usher a healthy consolidation of the hypermarket sector and also benefit the consumers, retailers and wholesalers, in terms of better prices and wider choices.

TESCO will retain Makro’s wholesale structure but will bring in Tesco’s retail experience so that small-scale retailers continue to secure their stocks at better prices. While retaining the existing people, new professionals would also be inducted
