UK retailer Tesco plans to open over 130 new stores in 2009 in Central Europe. According to media reports, 30 of these new stores will be in the Czech Republic.
The new Czech locations will be small to mid-sized shops with a floor area of 3,000 square meters in small to medium-sized towns, added the reports.
Further, the company is also seeking to increase Czech sales of non-food items in the region to half of sales, where it currently accounts for two-thirds of sales.
