Lidl to replace its POS software; partners with GK Software

Lidl, a European discount supermarket chain of German origin, has undertaken a revamp exercise for its point of sale (POS) software and other store systems across its stores in 20 countries and has partnered with German software provider GK Software, reports Retail Week.

As part of the plan, the company will replace its existent DOS-based POS software with GK’s Java-based application GK Retail. In addition, it will roll out replacement software for the store’s background systems and also store management.

Currently, the company operates over 9,000 stores across Europe, with about 500 stores in the UK, the report adds.
