Professionals discuss need for national certification

Must Read

Day one at the India Salon Pro saw eminent panelists like Biju Nair, Director of LTA School of Beauty, Raman Bhardwaj, Group Director of AN John, Renu Kant, Director-Spa operations and Vrinda Seddon, Director of Svastii Marketing who spoke about the necessity of mapping talent, training them and providing aspirants with a national certification.

“There is 40 percent job vacancy in the industry. Within four years, 5,00,000 more opportunities will open up. What is required now is encouragement among freshers to take up this profession as their career,” said Biju Nair. Adding more on the need of the standardisation of training, Raman Bhardwaj said, “ At AN John, we make sure that we have our new joinees go through a refresher course according to our institute, so that services across all the four salons are the same. This is basically done due to lack of a nationally accredited certification course for this sector in India.”

Talking more on beauty retailing across domestic and international markets, a new set of panelists that included Nitin Passi, Director of Lotus Herbals, Anuj Ahuja, VP-Retail of Apollo Pharmacy, Claaudio Stagno Redazion, Editor-in-chief of Salon International, Guillance Geslin, Country Head of L’Occitane India, Gianai manzeti, owner of Farmen ICD SpA and Giannina DC, Benedetti, Area Manager, AGGF Cosmetic Group spoke about how visibility in retail is important in India. “ Just like training is vital, products should be retailed from the right locations,” said Anuj Ahuja. He further added that there has been 80 percent growth in the beauty and personal care section duiring the last year with maximum sales coming from derma-cosmetic category.
