Textile Industry to focus on growth through innovation, modern technology: Santosh Kumar Gangwar

The Textile Association (India), Delhi organised the National Textile Conference-2015 on 26-27 October at PHD House, New Delhi. The conference was inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Textiles Santosh Kumar Gangwar.
The conference also hosted numerous industry professionals, including Sunaina Tomar, Jt. Secretary (Textiles) and Geeta Narain, Jt. Secretary (Textiles), Shekhar Agarwal, Vice Chairman, LNJ Bhilwara Group; V K Ladia, Founder Chairman, Shri Rajasthan Syntex Group; K K Agarwal, Chairman, Alps Industries Ltd; Sanjay Jain, Managing Director, TT Limited; Anil Jain, Managing Director, Jain Textile Industries; Shantanu Agarwal, Executive Director, BMD, V K Indrayan, among others.
While inaugurating the National Textile Conference-2015 on ‘Make In India: Destination Textiles’, Gangwar assured attendees that his ministry would look into the problems faced by the industry and advised the organisers to forward the outcome of the deliberations of two days conference for consideration by his ministry.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, the minister discussed some of the recent significant schemes for the textile industry and added that, “With the kind of support we are getting from Indian government the textile industry should now focus on growth through constant innovation, modernization, automation, induction of new concept and modern technology.”
A panel discussion titled ‘Industry Speaks’ was organised during the inaugural function to highlight the problems of the textile industry which included noted industrialists Shekhar Agarwal, Vice Chairman, LNJ Bhilwara Group; V.K. Ladia, Founder Chairman, Shri Rajasthan Syntex Group and Sanjay Jain, Managing Director, TT Limited.
After an intense brainstorming during the first day, students of Fashion Department of the Amity University, GDM Girls PG College, Modinagar and TIT&S, Bhiwani showcased their designs. The young designers presented fresh designs that were majorly influenced by the fabrics, colors and embellishment motifs that are modern yet Indian in their roots and thus complemented the theme of the Conference ‘Make In India- Destination Textiles’.
The second day of the seminar was concluded in the presence of Dr S K Panda, Secretary (Textiles); Dr Kavita Gupta, Textile Commissioner & Sunaina Tomar, Jt. Secretary (Textiles). Dr Panda assured complete attention of the Government to the outcome of the Conference. He emphasized on the optimal use of the technology up-gradation fund and schemes launched by the various state Governments.
Dr Kavita Gupta, Textile Commissioner further encouraged the industry to improve their research and development to make newer products and also mentioned about the unique fabrics that India had produced earlier. She also announced that the ministry is planning to have textile commissioner’s office in all the states for the benefit of the textile industry.
