App Annie is coming up with a start up with an intention to capture data on thousands of new smartphone users around the world. It expects China to become the world’s largest smartphone market at a $11.8 billion revenue thus leaving behind United States.
The start up, in its office in Singapore has hired 25 people and is looking forward to add new customers from India and Southeast Asia. It targets the data which makes up the apps, their usage and the revenue which is generated from it. For the venture, the group will get a $63 million funding to help for the promotional event attended by executives from Google, Sequoia Capital and Zalora etc.
The company’s founder, Bertrand Schmitt, said to E-paper livemint, “Devices are getting cheaper and many consumers are experiencing their first Internet experience through an app in smartphone. Asia Pacific is already big and it keeps getting bigger. For us, that makes the region very exciting as a market. Revenue and downloads, growth are expected to be big.”
