India, which now has more Hamleys stores than any other country in the world, is emerging as a focus market for the British toy shop.
On 11 October, the 256-year-old brand, along with local partner Reliance Lifestyle Holdings Ltd, opened stores in Noida’s Logix Mall (its second in Noida, the first being in DLF Mall of India), Ludhiana and Bengaluru, taking its total store count to 26, the largest number for any country globally.
The iconic toy retailer is planning to open six more stores in India in the next six months, taking its total store count in the country to 32 by the end of March.
According to a TOI report, Hamleys is in discussions with mall owners to bring Hamleys World, a toy store-cum-theme park after seeing the success of the brand to India.
Hamelys runs airports outlets, smaller express stores, regular and flagship outlets which are usually between 9,000-15,000 sq ft in India.
